Back-story: Sebungou was born to a 2nd generation Japanese/French/American computer entrepreneur and his Massachusetts-born British socialite wife living in a 100 million dollar Art Deco-style house in Beverly Hills, California. His early years were relatively uneventful until he was 6 years old when he was kidnapped by a pair of known criminals famous for extorting the wealthy residents of Beverly Hills through bribery, blackmail, and threats. The kidnappers demanded $25,000 from his grief-stricken parents, but even after receiving the money, they developed a more insidious idea of taking Sebungou down to Las Vegas, Nevada, with plans of pimping him out to child molesters and other seedy individuals.
The plan came undone when the kidnappers went out to eat at a diner in a small town on the outskirts of L.A. County with Sebungou waiting in the car. A woman passing by the car noticed the 6 year old sitting alone in the car. Confused and concerned about the boy's well being, she went to the car and opened the car door. Sebungou jumped out of the car and asked the woman if she could find his parents. At 1st she believed the missing parents were in the diner, so she took his hand and began to lead him to the diner, but she noticed Sebungou would not budge from the spot he was standing. He told the bystander about "the mean misters" who took him from his house. By sheer chance, two police cars rolled onto the diner parking lot. Flagging them down and telling them about the boy in the car, she was later escorted along with Sebungou to the police station in Los Angeles by one of the policemen, while the remaining group of officers arrested the kidnappers and charged them with extortion, abduction, and the attempted transportation of a minor across state lines for immoral purposes.
Despite the relief of Sebungou's safe return home, his parents were greatly affected by the abduction. His mother would accompany him to school every day until he was in the fourth grade. Due to some bulling driected towards Sebu, the principal asked his parents to cease their visits unless it was absolutely imperative that they come. They only complied if the principal would have Sebu stay in her office after school until either his father or mother arrived to pick them up. They never let him out of their sights, which never bothered Sebungou until he reached middle school, where his parents nearly shot down any out of school attempts to make friends. It seemed he was only free to do so at school, and even then that was not enough, as he would be bombarded with questions from his parents over the people he met. Finally Sebu snapped and when he reached 11 years old, after a tense discussion with his parents, he suffered a nervous breakdown and verbally attack his parents, fighting with them, then after a moment of silence, he ran to his room and locked himself in. His parents were on the other side of the door imploring him to open the door and talk to them when he realized he made a grave mistake, and started to cry.
The next day the young lad remorsefully apologized to his parents for the previous night. Prompted by the apology, the Oshiro-Arkwrights decided that Sebu needed to have friends and that their methods of protecting him were depriving him of this social need. They gave Sebu a party where they invited his entire class to come over. The party was a success and his parents then gave Sebu a phone, that way he could be able to go out with friends while still being in his parents reach if he needed help. Now with some form of freedom, Sebu began taking art and music classes and hopes to become a singer.
ETC: Sebu's father is actually one half Japanese. His mother was born in New Orleans to a Caucasian French-Creole family. His father was also half Japanese, half English.
